“There were screams carved on the air of his room, vital fluids dried deep within his mattress, whole lives sewn into the lining of his pillows, to be taken out and savored later.” -Poppy Z Brite “Self-Made Man”, Are You Loathesome Tonight?

Great podcast! One of my favorite horror collections is “Beachside Entries / Specific Ghosts” by Peter Weltner. The first half confronts the trauma of AIDS. The second half presents several short ghost stories about men haunted by loss. Spectral presences hover throughout both halves, creating a deeply moving experience reminiscent of Shirley Jackson and Mary Wilkens Freeman.

Thank you so much! That sounds fascinating! I have never heard of that author, and I am adding that to my TBR pile right now!
