Recommendations: Great Books by Women

February is Women in Horror Month as I mentioned in my TBR post. There are a lot of great books in the genre (or adjacent to the genre) written by women and what a great time to prioritize those titles. There are a lot of books I could have mentioned, so I tried to limit this specific list to books that I have read myself, or that have been mentioned on the podcast. So, I might do an updated version of this list next year with a whole new list of authors and books!

Books in the Freezer is an Amazon Affiliate, so the links included here are for Amazon, and the podcast gets a little kickback if you decide to purchase the books using those links.

Young Adult

“I sought to puncture Heaven and instead discovered Hell.”

Kiersten White, The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein

Novels

“That’s what it was: those little silences that slipped into their conversations like splinters, his need reaching out through the air and finding her, cold. That’s what had changed between them.”

Kea Wilson, We Eat Our Own

“Some evenings, he describes the waking world beyond here. It almost makes me grateful I’m dead.”

Gwendolyn Kiste, Pretty Marys All in a Row

“Time sands the edges of the injuries, but they never lose their hold.”

Michelle McNamara, I’ll Be Gone in the Dark: One Woman’s Obsessive Search for the Golden State Killer
